Libertarian Party Nominates George Borrello for State Senate District 57

The Chautauqua and Cattaraugus County Libertarian Parties have held a series of discussions in regards to the District 57 State Senate race, the seat that Cathy Young vacated in March. Both candidates seeking the office were interviewed by the Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Libertarian Parties.

On Saturday, the Chautauqua County and Cattaraugus County Libertarian Parties held a joint meeting in which they officially nominated Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello for State Senate District 57.

“We stand by our decision to nominate George Borrello,” said Andrew Martin Kolstee, Chair of the Chautauqua County Libertarian Party. “His efforts to reduce the burden of government, increase efficiency, and facilitate collaboration are in line with libertarian values. He will bring these efforts to Albany and continue the fight to bring economic prosperity to our region. We share many of the same values and we are excited to work more with George in the future and provide a libertarian perspective on various issues."

“We decided to enthusiastically nominate George Borrello due to his strong history of fighting for less government interference,” said Luke Wenke, Chair of the Cattaraugus County Libertarian Party. "We look forward to working with George in the future. He is a down to earth person who can hold his own with confidence. Not only is he willing to communicate with our party, he is willing to communicate with the voters on a person to person basis. We will be organizing future events on his behalf for the public to attend. He may be from another county, but I am confident the people of Cattaraugus County will come to love George and keep him around for a long time.”

“I truly appreciate the Libertarian Party’s faith in me to represent them as well as all of the people of the 57th Senate District,” said Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello. “I am proud to stand with the Libertarian Party in support of advancing liberty and protecting our constitutional rights and freedoms.”
