Eric Sundwall was Chair of the Libertarian Party of New York from 2008 to 2009. In 2009, he ran for Congress in a special election to fill the vacancy of Kirsten Gillibrand upon her taking a seat in the U.S. Senate, but the Board of Elections knock him off the ballot. In 2022, he ran for the nomination for Governor of New York at the New York Convention 2022 as a protest vote, giving a speech and immediately leaving the convention. He lost the nomination to Larry Sharpe.
