2. Bonnie moved to allocate $100 to each local chapter for literature, offer ending in April. (I.e., with the intention to renew the offer to chapters each April so they can re-apply.) Chris Garvey seconded. Jim Harris joined us just before we voted, and the motion passed 8-1.

Discussion had strayed into what we're doing to keep members, and it was mentioned that we should do five or six follow-ups when we get new members, to make sure we keep them. Al mentioned that he does make contact with each new inquiry before passing them off to a local contact (email and phone, asking them to join the party and about anything they volunteered for). Dan Gislao mentioned that Jak Karako gave him the database of 13,000 NYC LP members and inquiries, and that Jak will be helping him figure out how to use it. Discussion also included that the $100 figure could probably be raised, but that we'd start with that.

3. Sam Sloan

Vince started to get into this topic and then Werner Hetzner joined. Vince discussed asking Al Dedicke, the State Chair, to apologize to Sam Sloan for challenging his petitions. Discussion ensued, and Vince made a motion to the same effect. There was no second.

4. Volunteer-raising mailing

Bonnie initiated discussion about a proposed mailing to all members that had been discussed on the State Committee mailing list. She had concerns about cost and expected response rate. It was decided to include an extra one-page insert in the current FreeNY, which was already at the printers but not started yet. It was also decided to mail this issue (the only remaining one before the election) to a greater number of people than usual, but no vote was taken at that time about the increased cost.
